Overflow by Matt Maher

Today’s strong worship song is Overflow by Matt Maher which came out in 2008. Unlike most of Matt’s songs, this one hasn’t gotten much air time or YouTube attention. It is a great song, however and fun to sing. Matt intended it  be a Communion song with references to the Lord’s cup, body, and blood.  The lyrics also correctly depicts God’s blessings of grace & love overflowing into our lives.

Scripture references include Deuteronomy 6:5, Mark 12:30, Luke 10:27, Romans 15:13, 2 Corinthians 4:15, 2 Corinthians 8:2, 2 Corinthians 9:12, Philippians 1:26, Colossians 2:7, James 1:17, and 1 Thessalonians 3:12.

Overflow

Your grace is power, your will forever,
your love is a river; overflow in me.

Your word: true presence. Your body: our recompense.
Your blood: salvation; overflow in me.

Refrain
Overflow in me, my Lord, overflow in me, my Lord.
Let your people bless you as your cup is poured;
overflow in me, my Lord, overflow in me, my Lord.

Your worship of you, its your gift to us from you.
No one could give this gift but you; overflow in me.

Bridge
We lift up our hearts. We lift up our souls.
We lift up our minds. Every good thing is yours.
Yeah, every good thing is yours, so overflow. Oh,

Final Refrain
Overflow in me, my Lord, overflow in me, my Lord.
Let your people bless you as your cup is poured;
overflow in me, my Lord, overflow in me, my Lord.
Overflow in me, my Lord. Overflow. Oh.
Overflow in me, my Lord. Overflow in me, my Lord.
Overflow in me, my Lord.
