Your Grace Finds Me by Matt Redman

Today’s strong worship song is Your Grace Finds Me by Matt Redman that was recently released in an album of the same name. Even though it could be argued that the lyrics are not theologically deep, the topic of these lyrics, grace is deep, strong and profound. God’s kindness/favor/love which is undeserved by us has reached us and forever changed us in Christ Jesus. What God has already done for us in sending His son to die for our sins and rise back to life for us is sufficient to sustain us in any trial (2 Corinthians 12:9). The only reason this fallen world continues to spin is that it is currently in a time of grace. Without grace no one would exist. In  that sense Gods’ grace is found in every aspect of life. Since every believer is saved by grace and not by their individual works no one can boast.  Grace is the same for rich and poor alike (Ephesians 2:8-9).

I also like this song because it is typical Matt Redman, lyrical, acoustical, and worshipful.

Your Grace Finds Me

It’s there in the newborn cry
It’s there in the light of every sunrise
It’s there in the shadows of this light
Your great grace

It’s there on the mountaintop
It’s there in the everyday and the mundane
There in the sorrow and the dancing
Your great grace

Oh, such grace

From the creation to the cross
Then from the cross into eternity
Your grace finds me
Yes, Your grace finds me

It’s there on a wedding day
There in the weeping by the graveside
There in the very breath we breathe
Your great grace

Same for the rich and poor
Same for the saint and for the sinner
Enough for this whole wide world
Your great grace

Oh, such grace

From the creation to the cross
Then from the cross into eternity
Your grace finds me
Yes, Your grace finds me

There in the darkest night of the soul
There in the sweetest songs of victory
Your grace finds me
Yes, Your grace finds me

Your great grace
Oh, such grace
Your grate grace
Oh, such grace

So I’m breathing in Your grace
And I’m breathing out Your praise
I’m breathing in Your grace
Forever I’ll be
Breathing in Your grace
And I’m breathing out Your praise
I’m breathing in Your grace
Forever I’ll be
Breathing in Your grace
And I’m breathing out Your praise
Breathing in Your grace
For our God, for our God

Yes, Your grace finds me
Yes, Your grace finds me

Alive by Natalie Grant

Today’s strong worship song is Alive by Natalie Grant which was recently released on the WOW 2012 album. This is a great post-Easter song and very strong Biblically and musically. The lyrics paint Jesus as our Creator, Hero and Savior. The backdrop behind the lyrics is Jesus’ resurrection appearance to Mary Magdalene in John 20:11-1. I also like the powerful word pictures in the lyrics like “Mercy’s pen”, “breathing in our dust”, “a crown that bleeds and scars”, “death has lost and love has won”, etc.

Alive

Who but You
Could breathe and leave a trail of galaxies
And dream of me?
What kind of Love
Is writing my story until the end
With Mercy’s pen?
Only You
What kind of king
Would choose to wear a crown that bleeds and scars
To win my heart?
What kind of Love
Tells me I’m the reason He can’t stay
Inside the grave?
You. Is it You?
Standing here before my eyes
Every part of my heart cries

(Chorus)
Alive! Alive!
Look what Mercy’s overcome
Death has lost and Love has won
Alive! Alive! Hallelujah, Risen Lord
The only One I fall before
I am His because He is alive.

Who could speak
And send the demons back from where they came
With just one Name?
What other heart
Would let itself be broken every time until He healed mine?
You. Only You
Could turn my darkness into dawn
Running right into Your arms

Chorus

Emmanuel, the promised King
The baby who made angels sing
Son of Man who walked with us
Healing, breathing in our dust
The author of all history
The answer to all mysteries
The Lamb of God who rolled away
The stone in front of every grave

Alive! Alive! Look what Mercy’s overcome
Death has lost and Love has won
Alive! I am His because He is alive.
Alive!
