He is the Life (A Christmas Song) by Jonathan Favorite

Just in time for Christmas our strong worship song is He is the Life (A Christmas Song) by Jonathan Favorite of the CrossWalk band. This song is based on Luke 2:8-20 and John 14:6.  The lyrics are simply yet strong. The tune is folksy and very singable.  The song can be downloaded on iTunes here.

He is the Life (A Christmas Song)

Shepherds tending
Out in the fields nearby
Their flocks were grazing
It was an ordinary night
Just an ordinary night
When out of nowhere
A man in white appeared
And said “Do not fear!
I bring you tidings of great joy
About a little baby boy”

Woah woah
He is the Way
He is the Truth
He is the Life

“In David’s city
You’ll find the King of Heaven
In a manger
All wrapped up in his swaddling clothes
For he was born not long ago”
And with the angel
A multitude appeared
And joined in singing
“All glory be to God on high
And peace on earth, good will toward men”

Woah woah
He is the Way
He is the Truth
He is the Life

Woah woah
He is the Way
He is the Truth
He is the Life

You Are My World by Joel Kanitz & Jonathan Favorite

Today’s strong worship song is You Are My World by Joel Kanitz & Jonathan Favorite as played by the CrossWalk band in Phoenix, AZ. The song is featured on their first ever album called Acoustics which can be purchased on iTunes. I personally know the song writers and absolutely love what they are doing. Please support them by downloading their album. The songs are all original songs and are written with strong lyrics in mind from the start. You are My World was written especially for CrossWalk‘s 5th Anniversary. It is a song of praise giving God full credit for all of the blessings they have as a relatively new congregation. They lyrics correctly proclaim God as the source of all good things. They lyrics also point to our depravity because of sin and the amazing love and grace of God to put our lives back together in Christ.

Bible references include 1 John 2:2, 2 Corinthians 4:7, 1 John 4:8, John 3:16, Psalm 31:10, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, and Ephesians 2:8-9.

You are My World

Life has brought me down

I feel like I am lost and can’t be found
And when I’ve given up You’re still around
You pull me up

Take this broken clay
Restore it back to life to work today
Because of all Your goodness I will say
Your Name be praised

And in all of this You show

You are grace, You are love
You’re an everlasting Savior
I am weak but You are strong
And I will praise Your Name forever
Praise Your Name forever
You are my world
You are my world

How could I pretend
That any of my works could ever mend
A love for me so great You chose to send
Your only Son

Your love is full and free
And Jesus’ sacrifice has covered me
You’ve given me a life eternally
By grace alone

And in all of this I see

I am finally free
By what You’ve given for me
I’ll be with You for eternity
When I look to the cross I see

Redemption Song by Joel Kanitz

Today’s strong worship song is Redemption Song written by Joel Kanitz a musician at CrossWalk Lutheran in Phoenix, AZ. Redemption Song otherwise known as The Savior’s Love was written exclusively for worship at CrossWalk and is one of three original songs so far by the CrossWalk Band under the leadership of Jonathan Favorite.  The text is strong and comforting because it points us to the source of our hope and renewal as believers; namely our Savior’s love, mercy, and selfless action. Musically the song is fresh, clean and pleasing to the ear.

Bible references include Isaiah 62:12, Luke 1:68, Galatians 3:13, 1 Peter 1:18, Matthew 22:14, Ephesians 1:11, Colossians 3:12, James 2:5, 1 Peter 1:1-2, 1 Peter 2:9, Ephesians 2:4-5, 1 John 4:8, 1 John 4:10, and John 9:25.

Redemption Song

I have been redeemed
I am far from pure and holy
But God has chosen me
I have been restored
By the Father’s love and mercy
I am not the same anymore

[Chorus]

Oh, the Savior’s love
The Savior’s love
The Savior’s love has brought me through
The Savior’s love
The Savior’s love
The Savior’s love has made me new

[Verse 2]

I have been made clean
In a fountain of forgiveness
Where my sins become unseen
I have been renewed
By Jesus’ selfless actions
There is hope for me, there is hope for you

[Chorus 2]

Oh, the Savior’s love
The Savior’s love
The Savior’s love has brought me through
The Savior’s love
The Savior’s love
The Savior’s love has made me new
